A Greenville High School senior will be mingling her vocal talents with those of Troy University’s acclaimed Choral Department this weekend during the Annual Spring Concert.

Connor Murphy-White will be part of “The Music of John Rutter,” set for 2:30 p.m., March 28 at Bush Memorial Baptist Church on George Wallace Drive in Troy.

Murphy-White will perform in “The Mass of Children,” British composer and conductor Rutter’s self-proclaimed masterwork, as part of a trio with Charles Henderson High School’s Anna Orlofsky and Troy’s Hannah Stone.

The concert will feature the 90-plus member Collegiate Singers, the University’s auditioned choir, The Concert Chorale, and their vocal jazz ensemble, “frequency,” along with several other student soloists and accompanists.

Murphy-White, who will take the lead role in the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta “The Pirates of Penzance” in May at GHS, has performed for four years with the National High School Choir at New York City’s famed Carnegie and Avery Fisher Halls. An All-State Choir member for the last two years, she will be performing with the choir at Samford University in Birmingham in April.

Murphy-White earned a superior score at the Alabama Solo and Ensemble Competition and was also selected the Alabama District VII Alternate Choral Student of the Year. She was also chosen as the Talent Winner for her vocal performance at the 2010 Butler County Junior Miss Scholarship Program.

President of her class at GHS, she has earned both vocal and leadership scholarships to Troy University, where she plans to major in Music Industry and Theatre and minor in Piano
