Sanders guest of New South Coalition

Sen. Hank Sanders (D-Selma) was special guest speaker of the Alabama New South Coalition, Butler County Chapter, at its annual banquet held at Dunbar Community Center in Greenville on Saturday night. Sanders said considering he tough economic times people should think about “taking what you have and making what you need.” He also talked about how his mother would gather all the Sanders’ children around and tell them things were bad, but “she was at her best, when things go bad.” The Coalition also honored longtime member and former president Ben Hall for his service to the organization. Along with a number of Coalition members, also in attendance were Commissioners Jerry Hartin, Jimmy Crum, and Jesse McWilliams, Sheriff Kenny Harden, Revenue Commissioner Deborah Crews, and Rep. Charles Newton.
