After further consideration, Butler County Schools will be closed all day Friday. Fort Dale Academy has also decided to forego Friday classes in light of threatening weather.

Superintendent Joseph Dean said after assembling people from nearby Emergency Management Agencies and city officials, he has decided to err on the side of caution.

City hall and the courthouse will also be closed, a fact that Dean said helped him make his final decision.

“Once they decided to close the city, it made my choice easier,” Dean said. “We will also be postponing tommorrow’s basketball games.”

Greenville High School boys were scheduled to play tomorrow at 6 p.m., but this game will be pushed back until Saturday at the same time. GHS will be facing off against Rehobeth.

Tonight’s girl’s basketball game will not be affected.

The beauty pageant at GHS scheduled for Saturday has not been cancelled yet.

“Hopefully the storm will pass, and we can go ahead with the pageant,” Dean said.

Dean doesn’t expect to make this decision until school administrators see how bad the storm is.

Fort Dale Academy will be closed as well, David Brantley said.

All scheduled basketball games for Fort Dale will be postponed until Tuesday. Both teams will play at Huntingdon college, with the girls starting at 12:00 p.m. and the boys at 4:30 p.m.
