Donald Ray Colley Sr.

Donald Ray Colley Sr. (“Big Rock”) of Georgiana died on January 20, 2010. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Second Baptist Church of Georgiana with Pastor Donald R. Colley Jr. officiating and Georgiana Memorial Funeral Home directing. Interment followed at Sarah Goode Cemetery.
Donald Ray was born on June 9, 1951 in Georgiana. He was talented and gifted beyond his years. He was a skilled “jack-of-all-trades” and served his country by enlisting in the United States Army for approximately six years.
As a young boy, Donald Ray became a member of St. John AME Zion Church in Georgiana. In later years, he united with Second Baptist Church where he remained a member until God called him home.
Donald Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Willie King and Arleathia Colley, and a beloved aunt, Lillian Colley Murrell.
He was joined in matrimony to Shirley Ann Carter Colley. To this union three children were born – Audra, Donald Jr. and Donovan.
To celebrate his life and cherish his memories, he leaves his wife, Shirley; children, Audra Colley (Antwuan) Stinson, Greenville, Rev. Donald Colley Jr., Greenville, Donovan Colley, Georgiana; one sister, Edna Colley, Louisville, Kentucky; one special “little sister,” Yvette “Necie” Walker (George) Brown, Mobile; two brothers, Sanford (Mamie) Colley, Georgiana and Hillary (Marilyn) King, Greenville; three grandchildren, Alexis Boyd, Georgiana, Johnathan Colley, Montgomery and Javen Raines, McKenzie; four nieces, Sonya Colley (Donnie) Bone, Greenville, Cypreana Jones Williams, Fla., Rosalind Harris, Greenville and Angelique Brown, Mobile; three nephews, Daryll Colley, Huntsville, Carlos Colley, Huntsville and Cedric Brown, Mobile; mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, great-nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
