Second Judicial Circuit District Attorney John S. Andrews has announced that he will seek another term as District Attorney of Butler, Crenshaw, and Lowndes counties.

Andrews attended the University of Alabama where he graduated with a B.S. degree in 1965. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law in 1968.

Andrews was admitted to the Alabama State Bar that same year and clerked for the Honorable T.Werth Thagard, Presiding Judge for the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals. Judge Thagard had formerly served as the Circuit Judge for Butler, Crenshaw, and Lowndes counties.

In 1970, Andrews was elected County Solicitor, and he served as Solicitor for two terms. From 1977 to 1984, he served this circuit as an Assistant District Attorney. Andrews maintained a private practice for thirty-one years in Greenville before being appointed District Attorney for Butler, Crenshaw, and Lowndes Counties in 2001.

In 2004, Andrews ran for and was elected District Attorney, and continues to serve the circuit as its chief prosecutor.

Andrews is married to Susan C. Andrews.

He has two children, Cemira Andrews Powell and Jeff Andrews, and four grandchildren, Joseph Price, Madison Clay Powell, and James and Megan Andrews.
