A Sacred Harp singing will be held at the Pioneer Museum in Troy on Feb 13, starting at 9 AM. If you have a songbook, or if you are a member of the museum, there is no charge; otherwise tickets are $5 each. For those of us who will be singing Sacred Harp music during the Rutledge Homecoming weekend, this is a great way to get warmed up! This looks like a fun day trip.

Plans for the Rutledge Homecoming weekend are moving right along- right now, Saturday’s plans include having an arts and crafts fair during the morning, a car and bike show in the afternoon, local singers and musicians perform during the day, and all kinds demonstrations as well.

We will have another community church service on Sunday and we want all local churches to participate. The historical marker for the church has arrived, and the official unveiling will take place after the church service.

We’ll wind up the day with dinner on the grounds and gospel music. Be making your plans to attend- we’ve also got lots of ‘surprises’ in the works as well, and we know you’ll want to be a part of it! Let us know if you’re interested in participating in any way.

A ride to benefit the Relay for Life will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, leaving from behind The General Store in Luverne. The ride is about 120 miles long, and will conclude at The General Store. Registration will be from 8 AM to 12, and riders can leave in small groups during that time; $20 for bikes, $10 for passengers, extra hands are $5 each. Prizes will be given away, but you must be able to answer a question about the ride (pay attention!); lunch will be served. For more information, contact Donald P. The F.A.I.T.H Riders from Dothan will be having their annual benefit ride on April 10; registration is $6 per person and includes a barbecue lunch. Randy and I met the Director, Rodger Hall at a PGR mission and he invited all the bikers from in and around Crenshaw County to come on over for the ride- they’re a nice bunch of folks and I know they’ll make us feel welcome.

As mentioned above, a bike and car contest will be part of this year’s Rutledge Homecoming weekend. We’ll need judges in all divisions, so if you know a lot about bikes or cars, let me know and I’ll sign you up! We will be asking local folks to sponsor different classes in the contest, so if you’re interested, I’d love to talk to you.
