Sheriff’s deputies have arrested two men and charged them with stealing guns from a residence on Ridge Rd. earlier this month.

Bryan Philpot, 19, and Deangelo Thaggard, 20, each face burglary charges and are also wanted as suspects for similar burglaries in Wilcox County, said Sheriff Kenny Harden.

Harden said the suspects used an ax to crash through the back door of the home on Ridge Rd., then took several Remington hunting rifles, including a pump shotgun. The firearms are worth an estimated $1,500, said Harden. One of the rifles had been sold to an individual in Birmingham, but was later recovered, said Harden, as were the rest of rifles.

The two men were arrested on Thursday and remain incarcerated in the Butler County Correctional Facility.
