It’s been a whirlwind week in Montgomery for Fort Dale Academy senior Isabella Wesley. As Butler County’s reigning Junior Miss, she has been busy with many rehearsals, social events, visits to Capitol City attractions as the hours count down to the state finals this weekend.

While Isabella and her fellow county Junior Misses can’t communicate with family and friends via phone or email this week, Butler County Junior Miss director Starla Jones says the news from Isabella’s host family is “great.”

“Laurie and Karl Kirkland say Isabella is doing well and having a wonderful time. They said she’s just a doll,” Jones said.

Last Monday Jones and the BCJM board of directors gave Isabella a “Good Luck” party at the home of Tyler Dunklin.

This week, she has enjoyed a party with the host dads, a luncheon with the host moms, a visit to the zoo and other activities in between the rigorous rehearsals.

Many cards and letters wishing Isabella well in her quest for the state title and a share of college scholarship monies have also been sent, Jones says.

A number of Butler County citizens are also planning to attend the finals this Saturday night, January 16, at Frazier Memorial United Methodist Church.

“Our board is so proud of having another fine young woman like Isabella to represent our county in Montgomery,” Jones said.

David Brantley, headmaster of FDA, said Isabella was one in a long line of county Junior Misses who had been outstanding representatives of the school.

“We wish her all the best and are proud of what a wonderful representative of our school we have in Isabella,” Brantley said.
