The calendars are coming in time for Christmas – the Butler County Humane Society fundraiser calendars, that is. Project chair Annie Crenshaw reported the calendars should be arriving in Greenville hot off the press no later than Thursday, December 17.

“There has been a delay with the printers, but we’ve seen the proofs and it is going to be a gorgeous calendar which will make a wonderful and affordable gift,” Crenshaw said.

Dozen of color photos of cute local canines, felines, birds, horses, donkeys and more fill the pages of the 12-month calendar, which sells for $10. Those who have pre-ordered will receive calls or e-mails to alert them to the arrival of the calendars next week.

For those who haven’t pre-ordered, calendars will be available at local retail outlets including The Smokehouse, The Pineapple, Grayson’s and Watson’s Animal Clinic, or by contacting a BCHS member.

The Butler County Humane Society also joined Alabama as a winner in the Iron Bowl. The organization earned more than $1,500 from its recent raffle of a pair of Auburn/Alabama tickets.

Not only did the raffle raise $1,540, the winner of the drawing, Beeland Stead, sold the tickets and in turn donated the monies to BCHS, bumping the total up to $1,700.

Members Meredith and Morgan Mann of Mann & Associates donated the tickets for the fundraiser.

“We appreciate the Manns, everyone who sold tickets and those who bought them. It certainly proved to be a successful fundraiser for our cause,” said BCHS president Herbert Morton.

Morton said there are still some of the limited edition BCHS Christmas cards available at Grayson’s for purchase. An assortment of T-shirts, signs, journals and other gift items suitable for stocking stuffers and gift giving are also available for purchase from Crenshaw (382-6959).

Proceeds from these and other BCHS fundraisers go to support the organization’s two-fold mission: to provide ongoing financial assistance to the Greenville Animal Shelter and to raise funds to build a no-kill Second Chance county shelter to work in conjunction with the existing city facility.
