Dora Elouise Ballard

BALLARD, Dora Elouise, age 72, a resident of Honoraville, Ala., died Monday, November 23, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Antioch East Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Boulware, Rev. Bryce Cox & Rev. Andrew Ballard officiating. A visitation was held from 10 a.m. at the church with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: husband, Nolen Edward Ballard, Sr., Greenville, Ala.; son, Nolen Edward ( Sandra ) Ballard, Jr., Tallassee, Ala.; daughter, Diane ( Bryce ) Cox, Wetumpka, Ala.; grandchildren, Emily Ballard, Tallassee, Anna Ballard, Tallassee, Andy ( Lauren ) Ballard, Atlanta, Ga., Leah Cox, Montgomery, Bonnie ( Pat ) Richardson, Montgomery, Jonathan (Courtney) Cox, Montgomery.

Mrs. Ballard was preceded in death by her son, Charles Stanley Ballard of Montgomery, Ala.

Verby Kennedy Jones

JONES, Mrs. Verby Kennedy, 89, a resident of Luverne died Thursday, November 26, 2009. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Camp Ground Methodist Church with Rev. Cliff Cobb officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Elena Marie Jones and Brooks K. Jones; her parents, Alpheus and Olean Spivey Kennedy; a brother, Carlton Kennedy; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Jones. Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Paul M. Jones; three children, Peggy Jones Stephens, Leon (Donna) Jones and Paul Ray Jones; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Johnny Jones, Eric Jones, Brannon Golden, Mitch McLeod, Marino Bolling and Randy Kennedy. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 p.m.

Charles E. Milton

MILTON, Charles E., 79, a lifelong resident of Greenville, Ala., died at his residence Thursday, November 26, 2009. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Harrison Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Patton officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Park with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: wife, Anna Mae Milton, Greenville, Ala.; daughter, Judy Carol Milton, Greenville, Ala.; sister -in- law, Claudia Greggs; granddaughter, Kathryn Wood Braden; Scooter and Sally, his favorite pets; a host of friends, neighbors, nieces and nephews.

Ida Holley Furr

FURR, Mrs. Ida Holley, 92, a resident of Luverne died Saturday, November 28, 2009. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Petrey officiating. Interment followed in Old Providence Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Furr was preceded in death by her grandson, Gary Beasley. Survivors include two children, Sue (Bobby) Beasley and Billy (Pat) Holley; three grandchildren, Richard (Becky) Holley, Randall (Lorrie) Holley and Sherri Beasley; four great-grandchildren, Payton, Tyler, and Clara Holley and Jackson Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were Richard Holley, Randall Holley, Tyler Holley, Bobby Owens, Craig Wells and Bobby Beasley.

Bobby Lawrence Hall

HALL, Mr. Bobby Lawrence, 73, a resident of Brantley died Sunday, November 29, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Brantley Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Brunson Chapel Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Hall and two sisters, Mary Jo O’dell and Judith Ann Hall. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Virginia T. Hall; four children, Lorrie (Mike) Morris, Randy (Theresa) Hall, Rex (Lucy) Hall and Rodney Hall; nine grandchildren, Wade Morris, Tina (Nathan) Lowe, Brandy Hall, Wesley Hall, Jared Hall, Sarah Hall, Adam Hall, Olivia Hall and Aaron Hall; one great-grandchild, Gracie Lowe; his mother, Flarie Adams Hall; six sisters, Gloria (Ben) Cornett, Barbara Wells, Sylvia (Gene) Sipper, Cynthia (Jimmy) Williamson, Ann (Jerry) Godwin and Dottie (Perry) Stricklin; four brothers, James Lamar (Carol) Hall, Billy Gene (Sybil) Hall, Kenneth (Sharon) Hall and Chester Hall; and a very special friend, Ben Carter. Active pallbearers were Wade Morris, Wesley Hall, Jared Hall, Adam Hall, Aaron Hall, Nathan Lowe and Zachary Ballard.

Pauline Rushing Clark

CLARK, Mrs. Pauline “Polly” Rushing, 86, a former longtime resident of Luverne and a past resident of Millbrook died Monday, November 30, 2009. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence Crowe officiating. Interment followed in the Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Clark was a member of the Millbrook Baptist Church, Millbrook, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Virgil Rushing; a daughter, Patsy Rushing Johnson; sons-in-law, Albert “ Boots” Johnson, Raymond Davis and Charles Breeding; and a sister, Gertrude Hogan. Survivors include her husband Gerald Clark; three daughters, Peggy (Paul) Sims, Jean Rushing and Foye (Bob) Smith; eight grandchildren, Tim (Randy) Davis, Sharon Layton, Gary (Kim) Johnson, Tony (Toni) Johnson, Angel (Ricky) Hall, Jennifer (Brian) Magee, Suzie (Jim) Williams and Cindy (Lee) Holmes; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth (James) Wilson and Margie Drake.
