Tigers fall to Straughn

The Luverne Tigers lost their third game in a row last Friday night as they fell to a strong Straughn 11 by the score of 28 to 6.

The lone tiger TD came on an 8 yard run by quarterback Monterio May, but the PAT was missed.

The first quarter was scoreless as the Tiger defense played a magnificent game stopping the homestanding tigers time after time and forcing field goal tries, which were missed.

The Luverne Tigers were led on defense by Lenny Brooks who gathered in 8 solo tackles and 4 assists for a total of 12 for the game. Ryan Waters, Evan Richardson, Paul Lesley and Desmond Harrell all had 6 stops each. Cody Smith had 3 stops and one was for a 9 yard loss.

The tigers outgained Straughn by a total of 57 yards with a total output on offense of 275 yards. 181 yards were gained on the ground and 94 through the air. Luverne had 14 first downs while the home team only managed 11.

Monterio May was 7 of 18 for 94 yards with 2 intercepted. Ryan McGhee gained 62 yards on the ground in 6 carries, and May gained 96 yards on the ground.

The Tigers travel to Highland Home this Friday night to play for the county championship.

Next week they start the playoffs as they travel to Brundidge to take on the Bulldogs.
