Vera Marie Smelley, age 79, a resident of Chapman, AL, died on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Funeral services will be held at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home on Friday, October 23, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Linda Tarver officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to services at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home. Mrs. Smelley was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Smelley and son-in-law, William B. Jones, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen S. (Terry) O’Neal of Mobile, AL, Kay Jones of Camden, AL, grandchildren, Christopher Yates of Mobile, AL, Bill Jones of Gulf Shores, AL, Anne Jones of Birmingham, AL, great-grandson, Christopher Bradley Yates of Mobile, AL, sisters, Belma McNeill of Montgomery, AL, Myrtle (Bud) Walker of Lexington, KY, and brother, Van (Ruby) Garvin of Andalusia, AL.
