The McKenzie Tigers put an exclamation point on their run through region play with a 27-6 win on the road against Providence Christian last night.

Emmanuel Johnson helped lead the way for the Tigers, scoring three touchdown on the night.

The highlight of his night was an 85-yard run, but he also scored on runs of 15 and two yards.

Johnson also had a hand in the Tigers’ other touchdown of the night, connecting with Chuck Thompson for a 50-yard pass.

While the offense was putting up points on the board, the defense locked PCA down.

Melvin Owens had a career night for the secondary, picking off three passes.

Despite the dominating performance, head coach Miles Brown still sees room for improvement, particularly this late in the season with the playoffs on the horizon.

“We had a turnover on downs, threw an interception, had trouble punting, and other things that we’ve got to avoid,” he said. “We just had too many mistakes all around.”

The Tigers are solidly seeded second in the region, which means they will host a first-round playoff game.

Who their opponent will be is still undecided, however next up for the Tigers is a rivalry game with Butler County Magnet School.

The two teams face off next Thursday night in McKenzie.
