CCA senior running back Darren Foster took matters into his own hands to ensure the former CCA graduates of years gone by that everything having to do with football in Cougar Stadium was good as he scored on runs of 91, 43, 20, 70, and 3 yards to help put away Homecoming opponent the Rebels of Dixie Academy 51-3 on Oct. 9.

Of the first six touchdowns, Foster ripped five touchdowns as the Cougars jumped out to a 45-13 halftime lead and never looked back as head coach Roland Jones and his young Cougars now go to a 6-1 overall season record and a 5-1 region record.

Foster wasted little time in astonishing the home crowd as he took the opening game kickoff and raced 91 yards to score with 11:46 showing on the scoreboard clock.

Trailing 6-0, the Dixie Rebels marched 67 yards to tie on a Steven Price 4-yard blast off right tackle. The PAT was true as Dixie went on top 7-6 with 8:38 left in the quarter.

Within the next two minutes, junior running back Kyle Furr capped off a 61-yard drive going in from one yard out for the Cougars’ second score of the game.

Leading 14-7, Foster earned his second TD on a 43 yard gallop into the Dixie end zone, and with Austin Brown’s PAT, CCA was out front 21-7.

But the Rebels weren’t to be outdone as tailback Steven Price raced 28 yards for their second and final score of the night as the first quarter came to a close with CCA leading 21-13.

As the second quarter got underway, Darren Foster hit the Dixie end zone for his 3rd, 4th, and 5th touchdowns on runs of 20, 70, and 3 yards. Couple those with Nick Kilpatrick’s 50-yard scoring jaunt, and the blue clad Cats went into their locker room leading 45-13.

A late 3rd quarter score by Kyle Furr ended all scoring in the game as CCA had captured a 51-13 Homecoming whipping of the Dixie Academy Rebels.

Other outstanding Cougars on offense were quarterback Pete King, who connected on 7 of 7 passes for 127 yards.

Credit must be given to the offensive front five consisting of Wes Johns, Will Moses, Rann Smyth, Mac Blake, and Brendon Missildine as they have opened gaping holes as the Cougar offense averaged over 450 yards per game.

On the defensive side of the ball, Kyle Furr had nine tackles for a team high, followed by Cody Moses and Michael D’Arville, who had 8 tackles each.
