‘Pumpkin Patch’ at LUMC

If Linus and Snoopy were looking for the Great Pumpkin this Halloween, they would definitely find it at Luverne United Methodist Church. Huge brown boxes filled with bright orange pumpkins lined the alley next to the church Monday morning as the boxes were unloaded after being delivered all the way from Ontario, Canada.

LUMC has its very own “Pumpkin Patch” this year with 1,120 pumpkins on display. The pumpkin patch opens today and will be open every afternoon throughout the entire month of October from 3-5 p.m., including Saturdays from 8-5 p.m. It will be closed on Sundays, according to LUMC Youth Director Morgan Wilhm.

“The large pumpkins are $10 each, the medium ones are $7.50, and the small ones are $5,” Wilhm said. “All proceeds go toward Children’s Missions.”

Classes from area schools have also signed up to tour the pumpkin patch and have a chance to purchase their very own pumpkins.
