Wanda McCarty

Wanda H. McCarty, age 58, a resident of Fort. Deposit, died Monday , September 14, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services were held Thursday , September 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church of Ft. Deposit with Reverend Eric Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtlewood Cemetery  with Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville directing. A visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Wanda Heartsill McCarty graduated from Bauder College in Atlanta with a degree in Fashion Design. She worked at Gayfer`s in Montgomery as bridal and merchandise buyer for 26 years from 1973 until 1999. In May of 1999 she opened Wisteria Cottage, a women`s apparel and home accessories shop. Wanda directed and judged many beauty pageants throughout the state of Alabama, including the Miss National Teenager Pageant.
She was also on the Fort Deposit Board of Beautification, Supporter of Fort Deposit Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Fort Deposit Art Council.
Survivors include: husband : Bruce McCarty , Ft. Deposit; father : Zollie Heartsill , Ft. Deposit
brothers : Ren ( Leta ) Heartsill , Darrell ( Cathy ) Heartsill , Charles ( Janet ) Heartsill and Tim Heartsill , all of Ft. Deposit, nieces and nephews , Emily , Matthew and Jenna Heartsill .
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Wanda McCarty / Myrtlewood Cemetery Trust Fund , First Lowndes Bank , Ft. Deposit , Al. 36032 C/ O Janet Heartsill.
 Mrs. McCarty was preceded in death by her mother Mrs. Kathleen Heartsill , in February of this year.
