Butler County deputies have broken up an apparent methamphetamine lab on Pineapple Highway, said Sheriff Kenny harden.

Daniel Pittman, 25, of 5113 Pineapple Highway was initially taken into custody on charges of cruelty to animals, but was charged with manufacturing meth, 2nd, after deputies searched his residence, said Harden.

Harden said on Sept. 11 deputies responded to a tip that Pittman might be making meth at his home, but found no one at his home other than a dog that looked as if it had been mistreated. The dog was turned over to animal control and a warrant issued for Pittman’s arrest.

Deputies arrested Pittman on Monday and Harden said the suspect gave consent for deputies to search his home. Investigators found evidence of a meth lab, including multiple packets of pseudoephedrine.

In an unrelated case, deputies were able to make a quick arrest in a burglary, also on Pineapple Highway, on Monday night.

Both Kimberly Amanda Edwards, 29, and Jason Folmar, 29, were arrested for the theft of a rifle from a home.

He said the victims were in the front of the house at approximately 10 p.m. when they heard the sound of breaking glass coming from the back of the residence. Upon investigation, they discovered a back bedroom window broken out and they called 911.

While waiting the arrival of deputies, a female, allegedly Edwards, pulled up into the victims’ front yard to talk with the victims on the front porch.

Harden said the victims then heard the back door kicked in, went inside, and the female left. A rifle had been stolen from the bedroom.

Harden said he arrived on the scene and discovered footprints leading away from the home in the back. Following the trail, Harden said deputies also found evidence, including identification, linking Edwards and Folmar to the crime.

Both are incarcerated in the Butler County Correctional Facility.
