The new school year in McKenzie has gotten off to an “excellent start,” says principal Randy Williams.

The new construction and remodeling projects at the school have not interfered with the daily schedule, he said.

“The contractors and subcontractors were on a tight schedule, but they have done a super job of working around us, and we were able to open school on time and without any hitches,” Williams said.

Final work is currently being done on the school’s new fire alarm system and other electrical systems along with touch-up painting.

Furnishings should arrive for the new media center and science labs in September.

Along with those new additions, the school has also gotten new bathrooms for the elementary and high school students; new elementary and high school computer labs; air conditioning for the gym, and work on the school’s faade to “pretty things up.”

“We are definitely getting spruced up around here and we are very pleased with the work these folks have done,” Williams said.
