Sarah Cathryn Snellgrove, the daughter of Al and Robyn Snellgrove of Luverne, competed in a state swim meet in Cullman during the weekend of July 25-26.

She competed in the 9-10 age group. Sarah Cathryn placed 7th in the 50-yard freestyle, 8th in the 100-yard freestyle, and 13th in the 50-yard backstroke.

With each event, she bettered her time. She knocked 5 seconds off her 100-yard freestyle time.

She swims for the Troy Tiger Sharks; they are coached by Shane Tatum.

Sarah Cathryn began swimming competitively less than two months ago.

Over 1,000 swimmers competed in the state swim meet that weekend.

At the District competition in Dothan on July 11, Sarah Cathryn placed 2nd in the 50-yard freestyle; 2nd in the 100-yard freestyle, and 1st in the 50-yard backstroke.
