This weekend, players will once again gather at the Greenville County Club for the 62nd annual Men’s Invitational Tournament.

It’s a tournament with a long history reaching back to 1924 for the first event, though it’s only been played annually since 1948.

“Bill Lewis did some research on the history of the tournament for us,” said Todd Norman.

Players used to a scramble format will have to make some adjustments.

“This is an individual tournament,” said Norman. “It’s set for Saturday and Sunday, and tee times will probably be around 10:30 on both days.”

The entry fee of $125 includes two tournament rounds and a practice round on Friday, complimentary on-course beverages, cold towels, a poolside cocktail party on Saturday night, prizes and a medalist trophy.

There will also be a special “Senior Division Championship” for participants age 55 and over.

“Prizes will be given out as either cash or gift certificates — player’s choice,” Norman said.
