Despite the heat and humidity, Greenville head coach Ben Blackmon said he was proud of how his team performed during Monday’s first day of practice.

“We had good focus,” he said. “The kids are excited to be back out there on the field in practice mode, and I’m excited that they’re out there having fun.”

Blackmon said the heat of the first day was definitely a factor during the practice.

“They didn’t let the humidity get to them,” he said.

Throughout the summer, Greenville has been participating in seven-on-seven scrimmages, and the Tigers have played well.

The team’s goal during the first part of the week will be continued work on schemes and conditioning.

“We’ve got to start working on us and getting better fundamentally,” Blackmon said. “We’re just going to keep building on what we did during the spring and the summer.”
