Do you have a treasured photo of your granddad and his favorite hunting dog? How about the snapshot of your new kitten? Or a favorite photo of your horse, pet turtle or lizard?

The Butler County Humane Society is sponsoring a Pet Photo Contest. The grand prize winner will have their photo featured on the front of the BCHS’s 2010 calendar, due to go on sale later this fall.

Those chosen as runners-up will be featured in monthly montage photos.

Both B&W and color photos, vintage and recent, are welcome for submission, including photos of pets alone and pets with their humans.

“You can enter as many photos as you like. There is a $5 entry fee per photo and of course, all monies raised will got to help homeless animals in the county,” said calendar chair Annie Crenshaw.

“Everyone can use a calendar, and when you purchase one of ours this fall, you will be getting something practical and attractive for yourself, a family member or friend, and helping a very good cause, too.”

The deadline for submitted photos is August 31.

Here’s how to enter. Send your photo prints or images on disk, along with a check for the entry fee, to: Pet Photo Contest, P.O. Box 264, Greenville, AL 36037. (Checks should be made out to the Butler County Humane Society.)
