A warm weather tradition is returning to the Camellia City next week.

The Greenville Main Street Summer Supper is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 30 at the Chef’s Table downtown.

It’s a chance for local folk to gather for good food, fellowship, entertainment and a chance to honor those who give back to their community, says Nancy Idland, Main Street director.

“All our wonderful, traditional southern favorites will again be served, including barbecued chicken, potato salad and all the fixins’ along with refreshing mojitos and other goodies,” Idland said.

Local talents will be on hand to entertain the crowd.

Two awards will also be given out that night: the Main Street Volunteer of the Year Award, and the Great Greenville Main Street Award.

The first award is generally given to an individual who lives within the city limits and who gives a considerable amount of their time and energy to volunteer work with their church, civic club, non-profit organization and other worthwhile endeavors.

The second award goes to a individual who has completed a project to help revitalize the downtown area.

“This supper is really a celebration of our town, and the people and places who have made it, and who continue to make it, such a special place to live,” Idland said.

“I hope both familiar faces and those who are new to our area will come out and join us next Thursday night.”

Those planning to attend the free event are asked to RSVP to Nancy Idland at 334-354-2802, 334-382-8729 or by email at nancyidland@centurytel.net.
