A Butler County beauty took top honors at the First Annual Miss Independence Pageant last Saturday at the Ritz Theatre in downtown Greenville. The event was a fundraiser for the Children’s Advocacy Center, Safe Harbor.

Connor Murphy-White, a senior at Greenville High School, was selected Miss Independence.

Winners in other categories were Charmaine Ball, Teen Miss Queen; Madison Langford, Junior Miss Queen; Bryleigh Jade Taylor, Tiny Miss Queen and Photogenic winner, and Baby Miss Queen, Lexi Lett.

Girls from infants through 19 years participated, with entrants from Butler, Crenshaw and Conecuh counties. WAKA reporter Elise Burkart served as mistress of ceremonies for the afternoon.

“We appreciate all our sponsors, judges and volunteers in helping us make this a success,” said Kathy Smyth, director of Safe Harbor. “We want everyone who participated or attended to know they have made a positive difference in the life of a child.”

Other finalists in the pageant were Baby Miss finalists, Chloe Grace Branum, 1st runner up; Lindsey Parker Mason, 2nd runner up; Shelby Madison Lofton, 3rd runner up, and Photogenic, Mattie Perine Cook.

Tiny Miss finalists were Shaely Nicole Taylor, 1st runner up; Macy Elizabeth Lofton, 2nd runner up, and Stephanie Byrd, 3rd runner up.

Marissa Kilpatrick was 1st runner up for Junior Miss; Ariel Reynolds was chosen 2nd runner up and Paige Odom took 3rd runner up and Photogenic.

Victoria Walden was chosen 1st runner up and Photogenic in the Teen MIss category.

Courtney Amber Jackson was 1st runner up for Miss Independence; Jessica Erin Bush was 2nd runner up and Hannah Stewart took 3rd runner up. See photos at spotted.greenvilleadvocate.com.
