The report is back and the news is good: the Butler County School System passed its recent audit with flying colors.

During an audit exit conference at the special called meeting Monday night at the BOE Central Boardroom, it was reported the system’s financial reports from October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008 had received an all clear by the auditing team.

Board chair Joe Lisenby said he was “delighted” to hear the report.

“It just confirmed what we already believed to be true . . . I talked with the audit team members earlier and they expressed what a privilege it was for them to conduct an audit in a system so clean and properly managed,” Lisenby said.

“It was clear from their words they don’t always get that privilege.”

A personnel report was also presented at Monday’s meeting.

Approved was the re-employment of Benjamin Coghlan as an instructional aide at Greenville High. New employments approved were as follows: Keidra Davis, Science teacher, GHS; Beverly Cook, nurse, BCMS; Jordan Medeiros, Math teacher, BCMS; Brooke Robinson, science teacher, BCMS and LaWanda Roberson, Bright Beginnings instructional aide, BCMS.

Superintendent Mike Looney also expressed his thanks for the continued additions to the new board room location on Oglesby Street, including monitors on the dias shared by board members along with a large screen and overhanging projector.

He also encouraged the public to plan to attend the upcoming open house at the Butler County Magnet School in Georgiana this Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“We won’t have all the furnishings in yet, but the driveway will be poured this week if the weather allows and the rooms with all their technology will otherwise be ready. It is definitely worth the trip,” Looney said.
