Gene A. Whittle, 69, a resident of Georgiana, died Friday, June 26, 2009. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009 from the First Baptist Church in Georgiana with the Rev. Allen Stephenson and Rev. Randy Harvill officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directing.
Survivors include: wife, June S. Whittle of Georgiana; sons, Rusty Whittle of Georgiana and Carey McMillan of Chattannoga, Tenn.; daughter, Elaine McMillan of Nashville; grandchildren, Jennifer Zwakenberg, Michael McMillan, Terrance Whittle, Chandler Whittle, Michelle Russell, Angelia Russell, Jessica Wright and Jenny Dantzler and great-grandchildren, Alex McMillan, Bryson Wright, Nicholas Russell, Michael Dantzler and Andrew Dantzler.
Active pallbearers were: Alvin Dantzler, Eddie Holder, David Scruggs, Stuart Taylor, Ray Skipper and Leroy Thomas. Honorary pallbearers were Denson Scott, Vernie Scott, Wendell Powell, Charles Blackmon, Charles Williams, Mike Middleton, Lynn H. Watson, George Hicks, Jerry Hardester, Ray Lowe, Joe Shealy, Renford Dean, Keith Lowe, Ronnie Lowe and Joseph Rigsby.
