Plans for Celebrate America continue to fall into place as the July 3 patriotic event fast approaches. Sponsored by the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce and local businesses, the festivities return to Greenville High School Tiger Stadium at 6:30 p.m. that Friday.

This year all activities and concessions will take place on or adjacent to the football field, says GACOC director Francine Wasden.

“We want to make it as convenient for everyone who attends as possible,” she said.

Air Jumpz inflatables, balloons, and a dunking booth will all be part of the evening’s activities, along with a proposed volleyball tourney for teen attendees.

Greenville High School’s Booster programs will provide the concessions.

At 8 p.m., a community-wide choir will present a patriotic musical. Practices are set at the Train Depot at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28 and at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 29, for anyone interested in sharing their vocal talents.

The evening will end by lighting up the skies over the Camellia City.

“We have a wonderful fireworks show planned for our grande finale, presented by Night Magic. If you have been to the Biscuits baseball games, you have seen their great displays,” Wasden said.

The Celebrate America committee is still looking for sponsors who would like to give a donation to support this event, which is free to the community. Volunteers are also needed for set up and to help run activities.
