John Womack

John L. Womack Sr., 91, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
He was born in Bragg Hill October 4, 1917 to the late Dempsey and Ethel Womack. Mr. Womack graduated from Lomax-Hannon High School and Tuskegee Institute.
He served in the United States Army during WW II. Mr. Womack was the proprietor of Womack Painting and Decorating.. He served as a funeral director at James Herbert Funeral Home in Greenville.
He is survived by his wife, Estelle P. Womack; John L. (Jean) Womack Jr. of Huntsville, Daryl F. Womack of Greenville, Bradford O. Womack of Naples, Fla., Deidre R. (Douglas) Baldwin of Foothill Ranch, Callif., and Stacy E. Womack of Lorton, Va.; mother-in-law, Julia L. Peterson of Greenville; brother, Oscar (Kay) Womack of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Sarah (Jordan) Waters of Greenville, Catheryne Thoomas, Lela Pearl (James) Howard and Hortense Wilkerson, all of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Ruby Price Womack of Greenville and Ida Womack of Cleveland, Ohio, and 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
His Homegoing Service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2009 with the Rev. Harold Simpson officiating. Interment followed at Bragg Hill AME Zion Church Cemetery with James Herbert Funeral Home directing.
