The Fort Dale softball team’s end-of-the-season skid continued on Tuesday with a pair of shutout losses to Hooper Academy.

In the first game, the Eagles went down 3-0, while the final of the second game was 10-0.

Fort Dale only managed one hit in each game.

“We have talent, but we’ve just got to bring it together as a team,” said head coach Scarlett Anderson. “We’re 3-8 in the region now, so we’re not to hopeful for the playoffs.”

Anderson said the biggest problems against Hooper were the mistakes the Eagles made.

“We had slow rollers that we missed, bobbled ball, turning wrists the wrong way on catches, overthrown balls and other mistakes that we shouldn’t be making at the end of the season,” she said. “We keep making mistakes and the other team keeps capitalizing.”

In the two games against Hooper, the Eagles had a combined 11 errors.

Despite the slim chance of making the playoffs, Anderson said the Eagles will keep trying.

“We’re good enough to beat other teams, but we’ve just got to take the individual talent and make a team effort,” she said. “We’re going to try hard and see if we can get in the running for the playoffs.”

The Eagles traveled to Pike Liberal on Friday, but results were unavailable at press time.

Monday’s home game against Sparta will be senior day.
