Meanwhile, Scofield was shutting down the Warriors’ hitters.

At the end of two innings the Eagles held a 5-0 lead.

The game was then interrupted by a two-hour-plus rain delay.

After the resumption of play, the Lee Scott batters came alive and scored three runs on three hits and an error in the bottom of the third.

Fort Dale followed up in the bottom half of the inning with a run-scoring single by Brandon Matthews.

Mckeown pitched the top half of the fourth, closing the win with three strikeouts.

Mckeown finished the game 1-2 with one RBI, Walters was 1- 1 with a sacrifice and three RBIs, Mathews 1- 2 with one RBI, Scofield 2- 2 with one RBI and Chip Taylor chipped in with one single in two at-bats.

David Miller and Charlie Scofield scored a run apiece, with Ryan Taylor and Skylar McKeown each crossing the plate twice.

The final score was 6-3.

As Coach Jason Taylor commented, “It was a good win, coming after over a two hour rain delay. Charlie Scofield pitched well, throwing strikes and utilizing a solid defense behind him. When Lee Scott began hitting, Skylar Mckeown came in and struck out the side to secure the win.”

FDA’s JV baseball team played their second game of a rain-soaked Saturday at about 1:30 in the afternoon against the Lowndes Academy Rebels and lost 6-2. Look for full coverage in Saturday’s edition of The Advocate.
