The Greenville girls guaranteed themselves another home playoff game following a 62-48 win over Wilcox-Central on Saturday.

“We looked pretty good,” said head coach Ronald Bogan. “We’re working on being more patient on offense, but we still had some turnovers. Our defense did extremely well.”

The Tigers led 28-20 at halftime and pulled away slightly in the second half.

Scoring for the Tigers was also fairly evenly spread around, with Lakeidra Savage scoring 17 points and Amber Andrews adding 14.

Alexis Salter had nine points and both Nikia Powell and Nicole Norton had eight.

Bogan said the two teams met three times over the course of the season, and the Tigers had a different leading scorer each time.

“We had a balanced attack,” he said. “That’s the benefit of a senior-laden team — the underclassmen also follow. I think it’s working pretty well for us.”

Next up for the Tigers is a matchup with rival Charles Henderson.

“They play a man-to-man defense, and that’s going to be a challenge,” Bogan said. “We haven’t seen a lot of that since the game against Straughn. If we take care of the ball, I think we’ll be ok.”

Bogan said the Trojans played tough against Carroll of Ozark during their regular season games and the postseason matchup, and that’s a good indication of how good CHHS is.

“Carroll is an extremely good team,” he said. “Charles Henderson has two or three players that can shoot.”

The game is set for 7 p.m. Thursday night here in Greenville.
