Scale Back Alabama has gotten off to a big start in Butler County.

Angela Green, communications specialist for Pioneer Electric, which is helping sponsor the event in the county, says a total of 75 teams of four participants have weighed in at a total of 62,705 pounds.

“That gives us a grand total of 300 people participating in Scale Back Alabama here in Butler County – that far exceeded my expectations of participation,” Green enthused.

Green said she had already received numerous phone calls and had many conversations with folks saying they believe this event will change their lives.

“I’ve been especially impressed at the way I’ve seen this bring our community together. We’ve got business against business, folks from almost every walk of life, race, old and young, joining teams for one common goal – to get healthy and have fun doing it!”

Green wants remind all those participating in Scale Back Alabama to attend the weekly support meetings held at The Chef’s Table downtown.

“We are off to a great start and it’s only going to make this great community an even better one,” Green said.
