Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, which means it’s time to make those special plans with that special someone.

And if you don’t think there’s anything “special” to do in Luverne, Ala., during Valentine’s Day weekend, you are wrong.

Firewater will be performing at the Luverne Country Club on Friday, Feb. 13, from 8 p.m. until. There is a $10 cover charge at the door, and the performance is open to everyone.

Firewater, which is comprised of Jarrett Flint and Kyle Richburg of Luverne, Heath Cowen of Montgomery, and Steve Morgan of Burnout, will be ready to “rock your world” on Friday the 13th with songs ranging from country to Southern rock, and a whole lot in between.

Flint, who plays the lead guitar, the keyboard, the harmonica and sings lead vocals, has written and recorded several songs, one in particular for a very special place – “L.A.” – for “Luverne, Alabama.”

“Life is always simple here in L.A.”

Flint sings the country song mixed with a flavor of rock and roll.

Another Jarrett Flint song includes “You Can’t Play with Fire,” which is filled with a fun, jazzy, rockin’ country sound that has Flint tearing up and down the keyboard.

He has 12 to 14 songs that have been completed and are ready to be recorded for a CD. He also has about 20 Christian and Gospel songs ready for him to record a Christian CD.

However, Flint isn’t the only musician in the group who has been busy with music for a long period of time.

Steve Morgan, who plays the drums and sings vocals, and Kyle Richburg, who plays the bass guitar, have been playing off and on together since 1979. They first played together in the band “Southwind” before later playing together in “The Morgan Brown Band.”

Morgan, Richburg, and Flint have been playing together since May of 2008.

“We’re either playing somewhere or recording in my studio at home just about every weekend,” Flint explained. “It’s really cool to write a song and be in the car riding around listening to it afterwards—a lot of our recordings get done in a day or a day and a half—it’s a lot of fun.”

Firewater also plays for private parties, wedding receptions, and corporate events, and they have traveled anywhere from Orange Beach to Prattville to play their music and entertain.

So, if you think you have nothing to do in the little town of Luverne, Ala., think again. Come out and join the fun on Friday the 13th at the Luverne Country Club and be prepared to enjoy some good music.
