BROOKS, Marcie Cobb, 57, a resident of Luverne died Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 23, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Centenary Cemetery with Minister Kendrick Kelly officiating and Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville directing.

Survivors include, daughter, Kathy Schofield, Greeenville, and Monica Stringer of Honoraville; sons, Bill and Bobby Brooks, both of Greenville; sister, Shelia Payne, Honoraville, and brother Curtis Cobb, Greenville; and 8 grandchildren.

GODWIN

GODWIN, Mr. Charlie W. 95, a resident of Luverne died Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. William Leverette officiating. Interment followed in the Good Hope Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Godwin; parents, Claude and Luvenia Godwin; and a sister, Glennie Hollaway. Survivors include a brother, Clifford (Ellie) Godwin of Corfu, NY, and several nieces and nephews.

CORDOVA, Mr. George “Sam”, 68, a resident of Luverne died Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 at New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. William Leverette officiating. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Survivors include his fiancée, Margaret Ann Holladay of Luverne; a son, Blane Cordova of Troy; sister, Connie Grey; and two brothers, Ted Cordova and Ben Cordova.

MORGAN

MORGAN, Mrs. Sarah Lord, 88, a resident of Auburn and formerly of Brantley died Friday, January 23, 2009. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Spivey officiating. Interment followed in the Brantley Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Morgan; parents, James and Eunice Parrish Lord; three brothers, Herman Lord, Henry Lord and Wade Lord; and a sister, Delana Faircloth. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy (Jean) Morgan and Jerry L. Morgan, both of Opelika; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Roy) Reeves of Roanoke, Ala.

Active pallbearers were Jason Morgan, Chad Morgan, Robert Lumpkin, Clint Davis, Allen Flournoy and Bret McCrary.

JOSEPH HAROLD CRENSHAW

CRENSHAW, Mr. Joseph Harold, 75, a resident of Thomasville died Sunday, January 25, 2009. Mr. Crenshaw was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Parker Crenshaw; a grandson, Joshua Bryan Harris; his parents, Ellen and Cleveland Crenshaw; and six brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include his three daughters, Shannon (Dean) Rick of Daphne, Shirley (Scotty) Looney of Birmingham and Susan (Barney) Morgan of Valley Grande; a son, Joseph J. Crenshaw; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Vanessa Rick; a sister, Eula Grey Parton; and two brothers, Roy Crenshaw and J.A. (Margaret) Crenshaw. Mr. Crenshaw was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Navy and was an educator in the Alabama School System for over 30 years. Mr. Crenshaw’s ashes will be interred next to his wife in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Dothan, AL.

REV. JAMES HAROLD NICHOLS

Rev. James Harold Nichols, age 74, of Sweet Water, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at Mobile Infirmary. He was born October 25, 1934, in Butler County, Ala. Rev. Nichols had pastored for 56 years in several United Methodist and Baptist churches in Alabama and was the current pastor of Old Union Baptist Church in Sweet Water.

Funeral services were held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stanley Littleton, Rev. Bobby Hopper and Rev. John Bonner officiating. Burial was in Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.

He is survived by: son, Lanny (Vickie) Nichols, Georgiana; daughter, Darlene (Stan) Littleton of Wrens, Ga., daughter, Sharon (Johnny) Raybon of Brantley; sister, Shelia Wesley of Greenville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Kinner Jowers, Pitt Huckabee, Curtis Gates, Don Black, John Sommers, and Ed Sheffield.

Honorary pallbearers were BoBo Downey, Sid Pope, Bud Black, Andy Etheredge. John Ott and Scott Walker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Ruth Nichols who passed away July 2, 2008.
