The Fort Dale boys have played well in the last two games until the home stretch, where the Eagles have struggled in fourth-quarter losses to Lee-Scott and Pike Liberal Arts.

Against LSA on Thursday, Fort Dale got off to a hot start thanks to Sanders Hancock.

Hancock found a corner he liked in front of the student section and nailed three three-pointers in the first quarter to help the Eagles to a 14-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Lee-Scott turned it up in the second quarter and led 24-20 at halftime.

Fort Dale started off slow in the third quarter, but with 2:50 to go in the period, the Eagles tied LSA at 29.

Both defenses dominated the end of the third quarter, and the Warriors led 31-29 at the beginning of the fourth.

During the fourth quarter, the Eagles struggled from the field.

Lee-Scott broke the game open with 20 points in the quarter while Fort Dale only scored seven.

“We played hard for three quarters, but we just couldn’t finish it,” Johnson said.

Stewart Mathews scored 10 points, Hancock had nine and Luke Hutcheson added eight points.

Fort Dale also struggled to close the deal against Pike Liberal Arts on Tuesday.

The Eagles held a slim 40-37 after three quarters, but Pike won the game 55-46.

Mathews once again led the way for the Eagles with 19 points, while Dustin Till added eight.
