The Fort Dale Eagles suffered a pair of tough losses on the road at Lee-Scott over the weekend.

On the girls’ side, the Eagles were facing the No. 1 team in the state and came away with a 63-43 loss.

Head coach William Johnson said the game wasn’t a good one for his team.

“We turned it over on the press, and we couldn’t get any ball pressure on them,” he said. “We didn’t shoot well or defend well. It was an overall bad game.”

Lori Fail was the leading scorer with eight points and Murphy Middleton added six.

That game was a showdown for first place in the region, which Lee-Scott claimed with the win.

The boys’ also suffered a loss, falling 58-28 in a game that was close until halftime.

The Eagles were down five points at halftime and scored on the first possession of the second half.

Their next points came in the fourth quarter.

“We went cold and they put pressure on us,” Johnson said.

The Eagles were a paltry 7-49 from the field.

“They just wanted it more than we did,” Johnson added.

Luke Hutcheson led the Eagles with eight points and eight rebounds.

Despite the setback against LSA, the Eagles do have a chance to regain some momentum in the region.

“It’s a long season, and we’ve got three region games this week,” Johnson said.

Fort Dale returns home with a rematch against Lee-Scott set for Thursday night.
