A long tradition in the county returns next Monday with the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Breakfast at Dunbar Recreation Center in Greenville.

Annually sponsored by the Butler County Civic League, the event drew between 400 and 450 people at last year’s event.

George Cook of the BCCL says an even larger crowd is anticipated this year.

Members of the Greenville ROTC unit will be on hand to help serve a full southern-style country breakfast to all those in attendance.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Arnetta McCreary of Brewton.

“We also expect to have many of our city and county civic leaders here, like our county commissioners, council members, representatives and others. I think it has become a very special day for them as well,” Cook said.

The breakfast event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Tickets are $4 for the event. Churches may obtain packets of ten tickets for $35, Cook said.
