Crenshaw Christian Academy’s Roland Jones got an early Christmas present this year after he was chosen as the AISA Class A Coach of the Year. Jones was presented the award at the Dec. 4 All-Star Football Classic banquet in Prattville.

“The award is really for all of my players I’ve had over the years,” Jones said. “I couldn’t have accomplished anything without them.”

Jones was selected by the AISA state office and all of the coaches in the AISA from Class A, Class AA, and Class AAA.

He has been head football coach at CCA for the last six years and has an overall record of 48-18. Jones has led two of his squads to the state semi-finals, and he has had 5 of his 6 teams to make it to the state playoffs.

This is the second year that Jones was selected as a coach for the AISA All-Star Football Classic East team.

In addition to the award, Jones and his family received a free vacation stay at the Marriott in Prattville on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, plus a cash award. This is the first time he has received this award.

“It’s really good that the other coaches respect what I’m doing in a manner that they would pick me,” Jones said.

Mitchell Turberville of Monroe Academy received the Class AA award, while Steven Kilcrease from Pike Liberal Arts School was named the Class AAA Coach of the Year.
