The SGA of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College – Greenville is hoping to help make Christmas wishes come true for some of the community’s children in need.

The organization is hosting Operation Angel Tree, a Christmas tree with a difference.

Not only will it feature ornaments, it will also bear the names of nearly 40 young people, along with the items they are hoping to find beneath their own tree this holiday.

“We will have the tree located in our main lobby of the Greenville campus, and we hope many people in the community will stop by and consider taking a name and being an ‘angel’ to a child in need.” Said SGA president Michelle Styron.

The SGA worked with the Butler County Department of Human Resources to put together a list of underprivileged children in the local communities.

“We ask people who pick a name to shop, then wrap the gift and then return it to the school to be placed under the tree,” Styron said.

“Those gifts donated to this worthy cause will go to 39 children in our area and make their Christmas a happier one.”
