Pine Apple celebrates Hunters Appreciation Day this weekend

The community of Pine Apple in Wilcox County is planning to celebrate this weekend with its 13th Annual Hunter Appreciation Day set for this Saturday, November 29.

Vendors offering handmade arts and crafts, live plants, Christmas decorations, children’s clothing, food and much more will be found in the downtown area with booths opening at 9 a.m. Saturday and continuing until 4 p.m. Children’s activities, special rides and live entertainment can also be enjoyed downtown. An Antique Car Parade is set for noon with trophies to be awarded in four categories. Not only are cars and trucks featured, children on bicycles, four-wheelers and floats are also part of the big parade.

From dawn until dusk, the Les Moorer Memorial Big Buck Contest is held as a highlight of Hunter Appreciation Day. There are three divisions: Big Buck ($500), Ladies ($250) and Juveniles ($150). The deer must be killed on the day of the event and a $20 entry fee is required. All paid entries will also receive a free Hunter Appreciation Day T-shirt. Final judging will be at 6:45 p.m. with prizes awarded at 7 p.m.
