Aspirations running high for Greenville girls

Unlike the Greenville boys’ basketball team, which has gone through many changes in the offseason, the Greenville girls’ team comes in with nearly every player back from last season.

Last year’s team didn’t have any seniors, so the team returns intact, and that fact has head coach Ronald Boggan excited.

“The expectations are pretty high,” he said. “Most of these girls have been playing with me for four years now.”

The continuity of having the same coach and the same teammates for so many years contributes to Boggan’s optimism.

There are also a number of new faces on the team, and Boggan said he expects them to make an impact.

“We’ve got four freshmen, and they’re holding their own,” he said. “One of our biggest problems is going to be getting quality playing time for everyone this year.”

The Tigers are set to host Wetumpka next Friday in the season opener.
