The Greenville Middle School Tigers fought off rain, cold weather, and Selma Middle School to win their final game of the season 38-8.

The dominating performance concluded the season with a 6-2 record for the Tigers.

Selma Middle School came to Tiger Stadium sporting a 5-1.

In front of a slim crowd, the Tigers had their best running performance of the year, scoring four touchdowns on the ground.

The wet conditions led to many rushing attempts for the Tigers.

Leading the way with touchdown runs from 15, 20, and 10 yards was Kent Riley.

Demontrez Dean added the other touchdown rush from 15 yards out.

The Tiger defense also had its best game of the season.

The final touchdown for the Tigers came on a 50 yard interception return by Riley.

Brian Smith and Brett Armstrong had big nights defensively as well.

Coach Ingram saidd, “I was concerned about our defense after we lost one of our better defensive players for this game. We made some personnel adjustments and I was very pleased with the effort the boys put out. This was our best defensive game when it came to the fundamentals.”

“I am so proud of our young men this year.  What they have done is amazing.  I wanted to make sure we got this last game in for them,” Head Coach Josh McLendon added. “They deserved it.  It was a sloppy night, but fun for the players.  I knew we were going to have to run the ball well and tackle well tonight to be successful and we did.”

“Kent Riley had a great game.  He has had a great season and is going to be a great player in the future,” he continued. “There are a lot of future stars of Greenville on this team.  The next few years should be good ones for Greenville football. I just can’t say enough about how proud I am of these young men, we finished the year on a good note, and the one we wanted.”
