A Brantley City Councilman who was just recently re-elected to his office in District One was arrested Sunday evening and charged with domestic violence.

Lorey Alvin Bogen, 46, was arrested on Oct. 26 at his residence on James Street in Brantley by Assistant Police Chief Titus Averett.

“We received a call about 7 p.m. Sunday night, and that’s when Asst. Chief Averett responded,” Brantley Police Chief Lamar Chandler said. “The preliminary evidence was enough to arrest and charge Lorey Bogen for assault, third degree/domestic violence.”

Bogen was taken to the Crenshaw County jail.

Brantley Mayor Bernie Sullivan was thoroughly disgusted with the entire incident.

“Anybody that would stoop so low as to commit domestic violence is beyond low,” Sullivan said. “We have a fine town here, but he does not represent the town of Brantley.”
