It will be a November to remember in the Camellia City this fall, thanks to members of Greenville Main Street.

Main Street board members worked this week to clean up sidewalks, wash windows, decorate empty storefront windows and generally spruce up the city’s historic downtown.

The “autumn cleaning” is in preparation for a month filled with activities and sales in the heart of Greenville.

“Each Saturday in the month we have something wonderful planned, including walking tours featuring some of our historic sites downtown,” said Main Street’s executive director Nancy Idland.

The tours, slated for 10 a.m. each Saturday in November, will include landmarks such as First United Methodist Church, Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, City Hall and the Ritz Theatre.

The tours, which will start at the Main Street Office on Commerce St., will be free and open to everyone, Idland said.

On November 1, stop in to see beautifully appointed tables set with great holiday décor ideas presented by local floral designers at The Chef’s Table from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Vintage car enthusiasts will want to stop by Confederate Park to see all the classic autos owned by local car buffs on display on November 8.

“There will also be opportunities to shop for seasonal gifts and décor on November 8 with open houses at both Karen Rainey Interiors and Grayson’s of Greenville,” Idland said.

Additionally, St. Thomas Episcopal Church will hold a Holiday Bake Sale from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 8.

Come November 15, join Main Street for a How-To Bow Tying Class at 10 a.m.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter John Berry will bring his “Holiday and Hits Tour” to the Ritz Theatre at 7 p.m. that night.

“All of us who were part of ‘The Right Place’ taping discovered what a phenomenal talent John is, and we thrilled to have him coming back to our city for a full concert,” Idland said.

On November 22, the talented teens at Greenville High School will bring “Art in the Park” to Confederate Park downtown.

The month of Main Street festivities will close with a Holiday Open House at The Pineapple on November 29.
