A local businessman is alleging that someone is stealing political signs and would like help in catching those responsible.

According to Bobby Terrell, John McCain campaign signs have been disappearing from the Woodvalley Road and Balaclava Street neighborhoods.

“Those signs are not cheap. I don’t like to see anybody’s political signs taken, either,” said Terrell.

Terrell, a longtime member of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said signs for other Republican candidates such as Jay Love had been left alone by the thieves.

“I want to get the word out. I will pay a $250 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone caught stealing campaign signs for any candidate, including Obama,” he said.

On Tuesday, Terrell notified the Greenville Police Department of his plans to offer a reward.

“Maybe this will get the right people’s attention and we’ll get this stopped,” Terrell said.
