Clifton Herbert, age 67, died Oct. 6, 2008. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 at Pine Level Baptist Church, Greenville with the Rev. Johnny Sander Jr. officiating and James Herbert Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Herbert was born on Dec, 24, 1940 to the late Claude and Hattie B. Wiley Herbert. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Willie, Clarence, Worth, Robert and one sister, Nora.
He is survived by: his wife, Ima Jean Herbert; five children, Catherine (Stanley) Wilson of Riverview, Fla., Eugene (Karol) Herbert, Carolyn Tatum, John (Nicole) Herbert of Pensacola; Russell (Jackie) Herbert of Pensacola; two brothers, James (Loretta) Herbert of Fort Deposit and Eward (Lucille) Herbert of Montecello, N.Y.; four sisters, Claudie Abrams of Greenville, Lucy (Author) Ward of Niagara Falls, Alice (Joseph) Patten of Montecello, Lena (Clarence) Hagan of Pacorma, Calif; two brothers-in-law, Webbie (Lillie) Burnette, George (Willie Mae) Burnette, one sister-in-law, Gertrude Herbert; 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
