ESTHER LEE TOME

Mrs. Esther Lee Tome, 78, a resident of Luverne, Ala., died Wednesday, October 8, 2008. The family held a memorial service at her home in Luverne on Saturday, October 11, 2008.

Mrs. Tome was preceded in death by her husband, Albert C. Tome, her parents, Hezekiah and Narvile Stephens, sister, Ruth Godwin, and five other siblings. Survivors include four children, Melissa (James) Haws, David A. (Peggy) Tome, Albert C. (Donna) Tome, II, and Jim M. (Joyce) Tome; twenty-one grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

RAYMOND EARL

HENDERSON, SR.

Mr. Raymond Earl Henderson, Sr., 90, of Brantley, passed away peacefully at his home following an extended illness on October 14, 2008. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. from Brantley Baptist Church, Main Street, Brantley, Alabama, with the Rev. Jim Tate, the Rev. Jim Abbott, and the Rev. Travis Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Brantley Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, his grandsons-in-law, and his nephews John Snellgrove and Comer Carpenter.

The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service time. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Brantley Baptist Church Capital Improvement Fund, P. O. Box 61, Brantley, AL 36009.

Mr. Henderson was a life-long resident of Brantley and was a member of various community organizations. He retired in 1981 as the local manager of Covington Electric Cooperative. As an active member of Brantley Baptist Church, he was a deacon, held various offices in the church, and served on numerous committees.

Preceding him in death were his parents Arthur Lewis and Mittie Ella Henderson, his brother Ernest Lewis Henderson, his sisters Ruby Stephens and Frances Ella Jackson, and a son-in-law Vernon Robbins. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Snellgrove Henderson, his three children, Mary Elizabeth Robbins, Earl Henderson (Gayle), and Melissa Jackson (Jack), his nine grandchildren, Donna T. Glover (John), Amy Hope T. Tulloch (Jon), Mary Henderson “Misty” Taylor, Laura H. Layfield (Jonathan), Judith H. Tate (Jim), Rachel H. Farmer (Charles), Forrest Jackson, Elizabeth Jackson, and Daniel Jackson and nine great-grandchildren, Brooks and Jackson Glover, Luke and Ryan Tulloch, Trey and Emily Tate, Jack and Gray Layfield, and Harrison Farmer.

The family is deeply grateful to Lighthouse Hospice of Alabama, especially Mason Brown, Ruby Anderson, and Pat Pate, for the loving care they gave to our loved one.
