Slowly but surely, the Fort Dale volleyball is getting healthy and getting back on the winning track.

Over the last two weeks, the Eagles have compiled a 3-2 record.

Fort Dale opened the last stretch of games with a match against Morgan Academy, which the Eagles lost 21-25, 7-25 and 16-25.

“Morgan is a tough team,” said head coach Scarlett Anderson. “We played well, except for the second set.”

Karli Boulware had three assists and three blocks, while Sarah Sims had three aces and two dinks.

Earlier this season, Fort Dale was set to play Taylor Road, but the officials failed to show up.

That set up a doubleheader against the Tigers, which FDA swept.

Scores for the first match were 25-17, 17-25, 25-22, and 27-25, while the second match went 25-19, 25-14 and 25-16.

“Our bench played very well for us in these matches,” Anderson said. “We had a number of aces, and our serves are looking much better. I think we did better in the second match than the first, even though the stats don’t show it.”

In the first match, Sarah Sims and McCall Watson had five aces each, while Murphy Middleton and Erin Taylor were close behind with four apiece.

Karli Boulware came through with nine assists, and Sims led with four dinks.

Sims also had seven aces in the second match, and Taylor had nine assists.

The next trip the Eagles made was to Auburn to play Lee-Scott Academy.

“Lee-Scott is one of those trips we hate to make,” Anderson said. “They’re a great school with a great team and they always give us great competition.”

The Eagles came away with a win in five sets, 25-19, 22-2, 21-25, 25-23, and 15-12.

Middleton led the team with eight aces, while Wilson had five kills.

Taylor also made it into double digits with 10 assists.

“It was an exciting game to watch,” Anderson said. “I’m very proud of how our team played. It certainly doesn’t hurt to win an away game.”

The Eagles ended the week with a tough loss to Hooper Academy 18-25, 27-25, 25-18, 23-25 and 12-15.

“I think the football game might have been on their mind,” Anderson said. “We were trying to win, but I don’t think we were focusing enough. However, we played better than in our first match against Hooper this season.”

Emily Boulware had nine aces to lead the Eagles, and Karli Boulware had six assists and five dinks.

The Eagles are also beginning to get healthier, which will be a good thing when the regional tournament rolls around.

“We’ve got to cut down on mistakes,” Anderson said. “If we can practice hard and work on those little mistakes, I think we can do well in regionals.”

The Eagles have senior night on Tuesday against Morgan Academy and Regionals are next Monday and Tuesday at Faulkner University in Montgomery.
