Website keeps readers in touch

You are always hearing about the negative side of the Internet. And trust me, there is a lot of misinformation out there on the Worldwide Web. There are also more than a few individuals who are certified nut cases (and I am being kind using that term; trust me on this).

But the Web can also bring about positive things. A case in point: our newspaper’s Website, which allows people from all over the world to find out what is going on right here in little ol’ Greenville, Alabama.

We are still tweaking the new site. As with almost anything new, there have been a few bugs, but it’s coming along nicely.

We have readers from all over the country who enjoy both our print and our Web product. We’ve been working at maintaining a quick turn-around on our stories, trying to get them written and posted as soon as we cover an event, hold an interview or receive an obituary, making us more of a daily than a twice-weekly paper.

We also link to a cool site called “Spotted,” which allows photos we and you, our readers, have taken to be posted. If you have seen me out and about covering an event, you know I take many more photos than we have room to run in our print product. So if you want to see the extras, you just may find them in one of the Spotted galleries online. You can also e-mail those photos to your friends and family.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, visit us on www.greenvilleadvocate.com. Let us know what you think.

On a personal note, I want to thank everyone who has asked about our parent’s health. Mother continues to recover from her two cataract surgeries and got a glowing report from Dr. Caleb last week, with another follow-up check set for this Thursday.

My dear old girl is going to end up with better eyesight than her youngest! Mr. A.C.’s hospital tests showed he has some gall bladder problems and we hope to have that resolved in the near future.

Again, thanks for your kindness, concern and your prayers.
