Tigers take road trip to Talladega

This Friday, the Greenville Tigers will make their longest road trip of the season – a 150-mile trip to Talladega County to face the Talladega Tigers.

The Tigers will be leaving school a little early on Friday, but that should be one of the only changes for the team.

Head coach Ben Blackmon said it should be business as usual.

“There’s not really much you can do to make it so the long trip doesn’t affect you,” he said.

This week’s mindset will be important for the Tigers, he said.

“We’re trying to stress that this is a business trip,” Blackmon said. “We’re just going up there to play football.”

Blackmon said Talladega’s 1-5 record is slightly misleading.

“They’ve gotten some losses from quality opponents,” he said. “They lost to Briarwood Christian, and they’re the defending state champions. They also play Shelby County, who beat Briarwood earlier this year.”

“They look like a big, physical team on film,” Blackmon added.

The game is set for 7 p.m. Friday night in Talladega.
